Mac Troubleshooting

Mac Troubleshooting brings together practical fixes for common Mac and macOS problems. Start with the least invasive steps, test after each change, and move to recovery or hardware diagnostics only when simpler solutions do not work.

Startup & Recovery Problems

If a Mac will not turn on, stops at the Apple logo, cannot find its startup disk, or repeatedly fails during startup, begin with power, accessories, Safe Mode, and macOS Recovery before considering destructive actions.

Performance & Heat

Slow performance, excessive heat, unexpected sleep behavior, high CPU usage, and poor battery life can have software, workload, power, or hardware causes. Check Activity Monitor and recent changes before replacing hardware or erasing the Mac.

Devices, Audio & Camera

USB devices, external displays, microphones, cameras, Bluetooth accessories, and docks can fail because of permissions, cables, ports, power, settings, or software. Direct connections and built-in macOS diagnostics are usually the best first tests.

Important: If a troubleshooting step could erase data, reinstall macOS, or modify a disk, make sure important files are backed up first whenever possible.
